Executive Director

Estevan Munoz-Howard has been with YMI since April of 2008 and is looking forward to a challenging and fruitful tenure with the organization. Although he is no technological wizard, he has always been interested in media and is looking forward to improving his technical skills alongside YMI youth. Estevan has long known that his future would involve civic engagement and working with young people, and YMI offers a perfect blend of both. He is a social capital enthusiast and talks about the concept with anyone who will listen.
Estevan graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 2004 with a BA in Political Theory. It was during one of his political science classes at UPS that he first became interested in the concept of social capital and it was then that he realized his professional calling lay in the nonprofit sector. Since graduating from UPS, he has worked with Child Welfare Services in Tacoma, taught English in Japan, managed an ecolodge in Ecuador and worked as a counselor with Youthcare in Seattle. After spending several years on the move, Estevan is finally settled in Seattle with his wife, Elisha, and is happy to be home once again.
